Town Centre Park Master Plan
The Town Centre Park Master Plan reimagines one of Coquitlam’s most prominent urban parks as a dynamic and resilient public landscape that supports community identity, ecological function, and civic celebration. Spanning 42 hectares adjacent to Lafarge Lake and the Evergreen SkyTrain line, the plan outlines a phased transformation of the park over 15–20 years—balancing regional-scale event programming with everyday access to nature, play, and wellness.
From a landscape architecture perspective, the master plan is rooted in the principles of place-making, ecological sensitivity, and inclusivity. It proposes a network of flexible open spaces, gardens, promenades, and lakefront experiences that foster diverse uses while enhancing visual and physical connectivity across the site. Key design moves include expanding the Festival Lawn for major events, creating a new Festival Hub with amenities and plaza space, and introducing a continuous Lake Loop Trail—designed for universal accessibility, layered planting, lighting, and intimate moments with water and landscape.
The plan prioritizes sustainable interventions, such as integrated stormwater management, ecological restoration, and the use of native planting palettes to reinforce the park’s environmental identity. Each phase is designed to adapt to changing community needs while reinforcing the park’s role as a cultural and recreational heart of Coquitlam’s urban core.
