Vancouver Residence
Located in the heart of Vancouver West, this residential landscape project is nestled within a tranquil, well-established single-family neighborhood. The design thoughtfully enhances the relationship between the new house and its surrounding site, creating a seamless flow from public space to private sanctuary.
The front yard is conceived as a layered spatial sequence, guiding residents and visitors from the public sidewalk, through a defined passageway, and into a welcoming elevated garden that transitions gracefully toward the home’s entrance. This gentle ascent not only defines the threshold but also softens the shift from the dynamic street life to a peaceful, secluded garden. A carefully curated plant palette reflects both the client’s aesthetic preferences and the site’s unique microclimate. Native and ornamental species are arranged to provide seasonal interest, texture, and low-maintenance beauty.
A dry creek feature, positioned beneath the central passageway, anchors the design with a symbolic and sensory sense of arrival— subtly echoing the natural terrain of the Pacific Northwest. To the side of the home, a private patio and productive garden open to the south, offering a sunny retreat for outdoor living and urban agriculture. With direct sightlines to the park across the street, this outdoor space becomes a peaceful extension of the home, celebrating both functionality and connection to the broader landscape.
